Setup Contact/Referring Providers

Q: How do I setup contacts and referring physicians (block 17)?

The Practice Management setup process must be completed in a specific order.  Please follow the setup lessons for step-by-step instructions.

1. Open the Contacts Manager

All contacts/referring providers should be set up in the SOAPware Contacts Manager.

Go to the Tools menu, then select Contacts.

Click the Add New Contact button.

Enter the new contact/referring providers name, address, phone, and online information.

Complete the contact/referring provider's NPI, UPIN,  State License, Specialty and Taxonomy code.  To view the listing of taxonomy codes, please click the following link: http://www.wpc-edi.com/content/view/793/1.

5. Enter Referring Provider Additional IDs

  1. Click the New Insurance Mapping button (Green +)
  2. Highlight the name of the insurance company that you wish to map the provider to.
  3. Click Select.

Most insurance companies require only the NPI number for a referring provider.  However, if the selected insurance company requires additional IDs for Electronic or Paper claims, they should be entered here.  After entering the additional IDs, click Save.  If the insurance company does not require additional IDs, simply click Save.
