2010.1 - E-Prescribing Errors
In this lesson, we will discuss several methods of viewing e-prescribing errors.
NPI Required for Electronic Rx's
Providers sending e-Prescriptions via SOAPware must have an NPI number setup - Tools --> Provider Manager.
Rx Manager will display 'Physician NPI Required" as a red flag when the active provider is found to not have one.
Errors Received from Sure Scripts
When there is a problem delivering a message to a pharmacy, surescripts sends back an error message. The message is queued up on either the provider's or specified user's task list via the Prescribing Message Monitor.
Task List
Double click the Task Item and you will open the associated patient's chart. If you double click the Note Icon, you can view the details of the message.
Error Details
Here you can see the details of the message. The note will describe the prescriber, patient, medication description and pharmacy the message was sent to.
It will also report the Error Message defined by SureScripts. In this example there as a delivery issue; SureScripts asks us not to try and resend the message.
Medication History
If you visit Rx Manager in that patient's chart, you'll notice the original NewRx sent has an updated status of "Error".
