July 2017 - EPCS: Recommended to Register Two Token Devices

EPCS Token Devices

If you are using EPCS to electronically prescribe controlled substances for your patients, it is very important that you ensure you have two registered EPCS token devices.  SOAPware recommends that you register both the hard token key fob that is provided upon registration and also a soft token that is installed to a mobile device.

If you misplace or lose one of the devices, then the other device will be available for you to continue to submit EPCS medications.

If you lose your only device that is registered, DEA regulations require that you go back through the entire Identity Proofing process.

Download the Soft Token for your Smart Phone or Tablet

VIP Access

Soft token applications are available for most smart phones and tablets, including iPhone, Android, Windows phone, and Blackberry.  To download the application, open your App Store on your device and search for VIP Access.  This is a free application provided by Symantec, as seen in the screenshot above.  Download the application and follow the on-screen instructions to set it up.

Register an Additional Token

If you currently have only one token registered, you will need to register a second token.  For instructions on registering a second token, please see: Register an Additional Token for EPCS.
